Lead Like a Lead Mare is my fourth book, providing guidance on how to be an empowered female leader, using our lead mare horses as guiding examples. The book shares the values and principles that make a Lead Mare along with how to implement these in your work, community, friends, family, intimate and parenting relationships.
The seven lead mare horses of the ranch, Fortress (header photo), Pearson, Meg, Steel, Babe, Yalakom and Tatla (pictured above) all provide leadership in their own ways with their own unique skill sets which contribute a calm, stable and reliable foundation to the horse herd. Sharing these horses' stories illustrate how horses are leaders and what we can learn from them.
When empowered women step up to the role of leader, it isn't in the traditional sense of what a leader is. Female leaders lead from a place of collaboration, empathy, mentoring and stepping back to let others take the lead when they are ready. This means no one person is the leader, everyone can be a leader at different times depending on their individual strengths and experiences. This creates a culture of people who take responsbility, initiative and ownership and where everyone are equals.
Sharing stories from my own life and journey as a Lead Mare, I show how you too can apply the lessons of the book to increase your leadership skills and become a Lead Mare in all areas of your life.
